Background/ Experience

I am a Creative Integrative and Humanistic qualified counsellor.

My career in counselling began with working within the charity sector with substance misuse and homelessness in which I gained substantial and valuable experience on these and related issues.

I love group work and facilitated “Abstinence Group” for several years.

I have also enjoyed working with families of substance misusers facilitating family support groups and setting up a counselling service for families.

In addition to this I wrote and delivered several courses and groups centred on self-esteem with a psycho education element on emotions the recognition, regulation and use of them.

Having also worked within the NHS mental Health services, I found I particularly enjoyed engaging with clients within the inpatient mental health services.

Due to feeling frustrated at not being able to deliver the services I was trained to do in length and in quality I am embracing private practice as an opportunity to deliver work in a way that can really make a difference to people’s health and wellbeing.

I have extensive experience of working within the prison system HMP as an Art Facilitator providing art as a therapeutic activity. This comes from a background as an Art Director and Designer and I have a BA HONS in Graphics and Design. During this time I also taught MA Illustration and Sequential design at Brighton University.

I am incredibly passionate about injustice and have a strong belief in the theory of Carl Rogers’s core conditions which I bring to my therapeutic practice these core conditions are;

  • I bring Genuineness/Congruence, to my clients.
  • I provide my clients with Acceptance/Unconditional Positive Regard.
  • I show and feel Empathetic understanding to my clients

Having worked with a wide range of clients I have gained a considerable amount of experience with a wide range of issues.

I am offering an ability to connect with you and the difficulties you face with warmth and creativity.
