My name’s Natalie and I welcome you to Aurora Mind and Body. I’m a Hypno-Psychotherapist and Yoga Teacher and I’m here to help you ‘get mind and body fit’. At the Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre, I offer hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, therapeutic yoga and Yoga Nidra. Being able to offer all of these disciplines puts me in a unique position to be able to offer therapeutic sessions which utilise one technique or a combination of techniques, depending on what you would like to achieve.
I am able to offer help with general relaxation, stress management, office burnout, sleep issues, weight loss, smoking, anxiety, low self-confidence and self-esteem, managing IBS or chronic pain, improving sports performance, fitness motivation, busting phobias and managing nerves (for example; driving tests, interviews, exams or presentations). This list isn’t exhaustive though so if you like the sound of my therapeutic approach and there’s something else you would like help with, just get in touch.
What is Therapeutic Yoga?
My therapeutic yoga and Yoga Nidra sessions are an alternative to traditional talking therapies such as hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. Yoga is an ancient therapy and way of life from the eastern part of the world and hypnotherapy and psychotherapy are talking therapies from the western part of the world. According to yogic philosophy, many yoga poses can be beneficial in therapeutic healing, especially when combined with meditation or Yoga Nidra (both forms of yoga relaxation). This is because yoga has a direct effect on our physical energy and our ‘energy centres’ in the body (called chakras). In yogic philosophy, the chakras in the body are shown as coloured wheels of energy which spin. It is said that issues can occur in both the mind and the body when these energy centres become blocked (i.e. they stop spinning) or become imbalanced.
In the western world, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy are ‘talking therapies’ that are used for achieving therapeutic goals. Just like meditation and Yoga Nidra, hypnotherapy is also a guided relaxation. In hypnotherapy, intense concentration and focused attention are used to achieve a heightened state of awareness. Together, we can then focus on specific thoughts, behaviours or feelings that you would like to change. My therapeutic yoga sessions combine the best of yoga, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy into a unique session tailored to what you would like to achieve. My therapeutic yoga sessions are made up of gentle floor-based yoga poses held for minutes at a time. Depending on what you’d like help with, these poses are then combined with a meditation, Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) or hypnotherapy relaxation tailored to the issue you would like to work on. Just like hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, Yoga Nidra can also be offered on its own if you prefer. Yoga Nidra is particularly helpful with stress, reducing anxiety, improving sleep and boosting creativity.
