My name is Gethrine
I am a counsellor specialising in addiction and work with adults experiencing problems with alcohol, drugs, or both, and all the associated life problems that can come with these habits. In today’s busy modern life there can be many stressors, whether at home, work, relationships, finances, health issues and loneliness that continually test our ability to cope. We can explore ways for you to manage your stress, build your reserves of cope and explore any negative beliefs that may be preventing you from reaching your full potential without substances.
I am passionate about my work and have been working with substance misuse charities, day programs and organisations for 20 years.
I offer a confidential, safe space of acceptance, compassion and respect to explore your pain, beliefs, habits, behaviours, emotions and thoughts that are getting in the way of you achieving a satisfying quality of life, which is manageable and enjoyable
I work with family members and friends who are affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. I support individuals, in a quiet, calm space. Offering advice, information about drugs and alcohol, identify ways to manage boundaries, improve coping skills, and making time for you in your life and explore better ways to take care of yourself.
I am an accredited member of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners. (FDAP) I adhere to their code of practice.
I am a registered Member of British association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist. I adhere to their code of practice. (BACP)
I studied for four years at The University of Bath and awarded a Foundation Degree in Science in Addictions Counselling.
