The aim of counselling is to provide, you the client, with a confidential opportunity to explore personal and relational issues in a safe and comfortable environment. My role, as a counsellor, is to help you through this process without judgement or telling you what to do. I will listen and respond with understanding, helping you to explore choices that can make life more manageable.
I value that each client is an individual and that every counselling relationship will be different. During counselling I aim to build trust and rapport within the counselling relationship, enabling you to feel at ease enough to open up and voice your worries. I feel the relationship between client and counsellor is central in helping you the client, explore areas of your life that you are experiencing difficulties in.
I believe counselling will take as long as it needs and for this reason I offer short and long term counselling within my practice. My counselling approach is Integrative and Humanistic, which means I use several distinct modals of counselling to help clients think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions with emphasis on self-development; this approach is client-centred and non-directive.
